Summary of Duties:

Driver/Messengers provide transportation, delivery and/or errand services to all mission programs. They provide safe driving services to senior officials, program managers, mission staff, and other visitors or dignitaries. They may also drive CBS dependents and clients, in certain circumstances. They provide courier and logistics services, arrange for vehicle maintenance and cleaning, undertake vehicle administrative duties, and may additionally support the mission by assisting with basic administrative, protocol, maintenance and other support services following established mission and departmental policies.

Open to applicants who are legal residents or citizens of the Netherlands with the right to work, who meet all of the essential requirements stated below, and whose applications are received by the closing date.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

*Language will be assessed further during the process.

Education:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.

· A secondary school diploma or higher or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience

Language:

· Fluency in English (written and spoken)

· Working level of Dutch (written and spoken)

Experience:

· Minimum of 3 years of recent experience (within the past 7 years) in a profession that includes regular and significant professional driving duties, with a clean driving record

· Experience in vehicle maintenance, either professionally or privately

· Experience in general office support/running errands

RATED REQUIREMENTS

The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:

· Knowledge of vehicle maintenance (basic car knowledge/mechanics), safety, and security practices

· Excellent knowledge of Dutch driving rules and regulations

· Good user-level computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, internet, etc.)

Competencies:

· Effective interpersonal relationships

· Adaptability and flexibility

· Time management and effective prioritization

· Client focus

· Sound judgement, discretion

Abilities:

· Ability to stay calm and perform in challenging/stressful situations

· Ability to read maps, judge distances, understand directions and plan routes in advance

· Ability to use GPS and estimate travel time

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.

· Previous experience working in a diplomatic mission, or in an international organization

· Experience dealing with VIP’s/dignitaries

· Knowledge of the French language

· Certification in vehicle maintenance and/or property maintenance

· Training or certification in security, first aid, hazard avoidance, safe driving, defensive driving, etc.

Operational Requirements:

· Required to be in good health with vision appropriate to the main duty of driving (visual aids, e.g. glasses, are acceptable).

· Normal work week - 40 hours per week

· Ability and willingness to work overtime outside of office hours (early morning / late at night) and during weekends, sometimes with very short notice

· Ability and willingness to travel occasionally

· Ability to do physical tasks such as clean cars, lift heavy boxes, use basic power tools, climb ladders, and other physical activities

Conditions of Employment:

Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.

- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.

- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.

- Other conditions of employment:

Maintaining a valid Dutch Driver’s License and a clean driving record

Additional Comments:

· VOG (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag);

· Passport or national ID card;

· Certificate of Canadian Citizenship (if applicable);

· 1 x recent passport photos;

· Certificate(s) of employment/letter(s) and references;

· School certificates/diplomas.
